He said to Him, “Do you really grasp what you are reading?” “How can I, the man replied, “unless someone explains it to me?” Acts 8:30
“Ignorance of the Bible, is ignorance of Jesus Christ.” These words from St. Jerome, a 5th Century Doctor of the Church and one of the translators of the Bible, ring true even today. He urged all to recognize that serious Bible study is a necessity, not an optional luxury. We Catholics now have an opportunity to open the pages of this revered source of our faith and become better Catholics - more knowledgeable, more inspired and more faith-filled. We have used several studies, all of which are sanctioned by the Catholic Church. Facilitators lead the class through the questions which we studied at home and ends with a DVD by a renowned Bible scholar who summarizes it for the group. Our sessions have been an opportunity to acquaint ourselves with the Bible, to enjoy the camaraderie of the class, and most importantly, to learn more about Jesus Christ and become closer to Him.
A nominal fee is charged for workbooks. We welcome everyone to join Monday evenings 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm.
“I am the good shepherd; I know my own sheep, and they know me...and they will listen to my voice; and there will be one flock with on shepherd.” John 10:14-16

“Then, what looked like flames or tongues of fire appeared and settled on each of them. And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other languages, as the Holy Spirit gave them this ability.” Acts 2:3-4

“After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others whom he sent ahead of him in pairs to every town and place he intended to visit. He said to them, the harvest is abundant but the laborers are few; so ask the master of the harvest to send out laborers for his harvest. Go on your way; behold I am sending you like lambs among wolves.” Luke 10:1-3
The Knights of Columbus is a fraternal Catholic men’s non-profit organization with membership open to all clergy and parishioners in the Diocese over the age of 18 years.
Our mission is to build the domestic church and strengthen parish life.
The basic fundamentals of the Knights of Columbus are Charity, Unity, and Fraternity. We are basically there for Bishop Larry Silva, who is a member of our council #7156, and for the clergy of Mary, Star of the Sea, Holy Trinity and St. George Church. This makes up our “roundtable group.” This could be any request for assistance manpower or financial within the limits of the council members or funds.
We assist at Confirmations, Communions, and Funeral Mass of passed away brother knights. The Diocese event such as “The Right to Life March”, as well as Hospitality Sunday every second Sunday of the month and Pancake Breakfast to promote fellowship and raise council funds. Donations to the hospitality Sunday go to sponsor a seminarian studying to become a priest. Some of the other community events we participate in are the Special Olympics and other parish youth, senior, charismatic functions usually serving coffee, juice and refreshments. Our council members meet twice a month at the 2nd Floor Activity Center in the Parish Building.
“Blest are you among women and blest is the fruit of your womb.” Luke 1:42
